Former FBI Director James Comey has found himself in a challenging situation, necessitating a confrontation with the Secret Service.
He is currently under investigation due to an Instagram post where he displayed seashells arranged to spell out ’86 47.’ It is believed that ’86’ was intended in its conventional meaning of ‘to eliminate,’ while ’47’ referred to the 47th president, Donald Trump, who dismissed Comey during his initial term for misconduct.
In the now-deleted post, Comey remarked on the ‘cool shell formation’ he encountered during a beach walk, followed by a subsequent post attempting to clarify his intentions.
Earlier, I shared a photograph of shells I encountered during a walk on the beach, which I believed conveyed a political message,” he stated. “I was unaware that some individuals link those numbers to violence.
It had not crossed my mind, but I am against any form of violence, so I removed the post.” However, Trump did not accept the former FBI director’s clarification, nor did other members of his administration.
He fully understood the implications of that statement. A child comprehends its significance. If one holds the position of FBI director and remains unaware of its meaning, it clearly indicates ‘assassination,’ and this is unmistakably conveyed,” Trump remarked during an interview with Fox News anchor Brett Baier.
On Friday afternoon, Comey was observed entering a facility that accommodates federal law enforcement agencies, where he was questioned regarding the incident, as reported by Fox News.
The discussion lasted approximately 70 minutes. As of this moment, the outcome of the meeting between the Secret Service and Comey remains uncertain. It is also unclear whether any charges will be filed.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared insights about the incident on X, emphasizing the agency’s serious approach to the matter.
“We are in contact with the Secret Service and Director Curran,” he stated. “The primary jurisdiction lies with the Secret Service in these situations, and we, the FBI, will extend all necessary assistance.”
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who supervises the Secret Service, also posted on X: “DHS and the Secret Service are investigating this threat and will take appropriate action.”
Host Jesse Watters inquired whether one could believe that the former FBI Director was unaware of the meaning behind ’86 Trump.’ Gabbard responded emphatically, stating, ‘I find that assertion utterly absurd and outrageous, particularly given the context and especially from someone who has held the position of FBI Director.
This is an individual who dedicated a significant portion of his career to prosecuting organized crime figures, individuals who are familiar with and utilize this specific terminology of ’86.’ Gabbard further noted that Comey himself acknowledged in a subsequent message that he recognized this as a political statement.
She argued that his awareness stemmed from the fact that, just over a month prior, a group of anti-Trump and anti-Elon Musk demonstrators had been actively using the ’86-47′ slogan, which she described as a thinly veiled incitement to assassinate the sitting President of the United States.
Gabbard concluded by emphasizing that for Comey to assume that the American public would be gullible enough to believe his claim of ignorance regarding the implications of this phrase is a dangerous underestimation of the situation.
In light of two assassination attempts on the president’s life, and considering individuals who are revered by MSNBC, the Democratic elite, and CNN as paragons of integrity—such as Comey, who is portrayed as the law and order figure committed to truth regardless of the repercussions—it is concerning that this same individual is now perceived as orchestrating a threat against President Trump, the leader chosen by the American electorate, she remarked.
